Connecting with Canadians

Wait Times without Rhetoric: Lessons from the Taming of the Queue

by Tom McIntosh

For the past four years, health care providers, system managers, policy-makers and researchers have gathered in Ottawa for what has become an annual event:  the Taming of the Queue Conference.  The conferences examine the progress that Canadian (and international) jurisdictions have made in dealing with the complex array of factors that contribute to create unacceptable wait times for medically necessary services.

In his commentary, Wait Times without Rhetoric:  Lessons from the Taming of the Queue, Tom McIntosh looks back over the past four conferences at how the true victories and challenges of managing wait times have flown under the political and public radar in Canada.
